Ancient but Earthquake-proof By Lynne Beaven

In Greece some ancient builders built some building which where old but earthquake-proof. This is because they used limestone and pliable rock in their columns which made it earthquake-proof so that when an earthquake comes the building will stand as a tough solid rock.

A car is something people use to drive to places.It has got an engine to move.

It has also got back wheels to move and front wheels to turn.An automatic car

changes the gears for its own self,but a manual car is a car that is hard to drive.

And to understand how to change the gears sometimes.But when we talk about

an automatic car it is very different from a manual car,an automatic car uses

what we call,an engine to change its gears.Deep inside the engine are some-

things which look like legs,but they are not legs,they are things which scientists

call clutches.A car has 4 windows,4 wheels and 4 doors.Some car for example

are:muscle cars,monster trucks and fast cars and normal cars.Some cars also

have roofs and some car do not have any roofs.Some cars have roofs for winter

like 4x4 cars are strong cars for winter.

Trip to the Auckland Museum

On Monday the 28th of July 2014, Glenbrae went to the museum on a green school bus. First we had to go to the hall to get ready to go to the bus. After 30 minutes the bus came and Room 8 and Room 10 went first to the first bus and then after 2 minutes Room 7 and Room 9 went to the bus.

When we arrived at the museum we went in and we sat down because the teachers said we had to sit down. After 12 minutes we went upstairs and we learnt about how volcanoes can erupt, like lava flows, explosion volcanoes and one more that I forgot.

At the museum we learnt that they are a 165 volcanoes in New Zealand.

After 30 minutes of learning about volcanoes we had free time to see what we wanted to see. After 1 hr it was morning tea, after morning tea we went to see the 1866 town and we loved it.

After 10 minutes at the 1866 town we went to the earthquake

volcano house we waited for 7 minutes and then we saw some steam rising from the water and it started shaking and erupting

some people thought it was real and some people were scared

like some of the other girls.

After 2 hours it was lunch time we ate and then we went to see the Pacific section for 50 minutes. After 40 minutes it was home time when we started going people saw heaps of money in a donation money box and somebody got $100. I enjoyed going to the museum because we learnt about new stuff.

Hi! I’m Samuel and I am ten years old, also known as Leo at home, and I study as a year 6 student at Glenbrae school. Let me tell you a little bit more about myself.

In my family there is my sister, 2 brothers my mom and my dad and me.  In my family we enjoy doing fun thing together

we go to the shops and watch football matches.

Our favourite teams are Fc Barcelona,Arsenal and Chelsea.

My favourite animal is a cheetah and my favourite foods are rotties and chicken fried rice and chicken pie and pizza. My favourite dessert is cake with mousse and ice-cream.

My favourite sport is football and I am really good at it. My favourite football players are Lionel Messi,Cristiano Ronaldo

and Neymar Jr. My favourite football premier league teams

are Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

My dad is an electrical engineer and my mom is starting to become a midwife which means being with ladies/woman.

When I grow up I want to to become an electrical engineer or a football player but mostly a football player.

I love school because you learn and you learn hard sums like long division. My brother Ben wants to be an architect and my brother Joshua wants to be an electrician or a builder.

One day I hope to go and visit Jamaica, Argentina, America and Antarctica and my cousins. Go down for some photos.
