Discussion:
Do you think it is a true story? Yes Why? I think it’s true because of the setting. Why not?

What kind of relationship do you think Ripeka had with her Poua? They had a good relatonship. How can you tell? I can tell because the had a good time together and her Poua died.

Why was Ripeka the only person to be wear a piupiu and to be lifted onto the waka taua? She was the only person to wear a piupiu because her grandfather died

Why do you think Uncle Joe and Auntie Heni are making jokes at the end of this story, when it seems like quite a serious event? Because they were joking around and the men were too hungry and too fat.

Some of the events in the story, took a long time and were explained in 1 sentence, while others were only moments but described in several sentences. What effect does this have when you’re reading? Their culture and how they act and behave Why do you think the author has done this? I think the author has done this to tell people how the girl loves her Poua.
